Rates are per villa per night. If you have selected any extra services, they will be added to the total price of the booking.
Rates quoted are correct only for the specific number of guests, nights and dates shown. Should you change the number of guests, dates or room nights, the rates may be subject to change
We understand sometimes travel plans change. We encourage rescheduling your reservation to a later date, however understand that this is not always possible.
Cancellations made on or before 30 days prior to expected date of arrival will receive a full refund.
Cancellations made 15-29 days before expected date of arrival will receive a refund of 50% of the cost of stay.
Cancellations made 14 days or less before expected day of arrival will be charged the full cost of stay.
No shows and early departures will be charged 100% of costs.
There are no refunds for late arrivals (including delayed flights) or early departures.
The airport to fly into is the Juan Santamaria (San Jose – SJO) airport. Las Palomas is approximately 138 miles southeast of San Jose on the Caribbean coast. You have several travel options to reach your destination:
Please note that when planning your transportation to Las Palomas Villas, we do not accept check ins after 9:00 pm. If you are arriving in San Jose late in the afternoon or evening, we recommend that you spend the night in San Jose.
1) You can rent a car and drive the 4+ hours. The roads are in good condition and fairly well signed. On- going road construction to complete a 4 lane highway may make your trip shorter or longer, depending on the construction zones and traffic. We can e-mail you directions or GPS coordinates that the car rental agency can put in the car’s GPS. The Waze app also works well in Costa Rica. Feel free to contact us for specific driving directions to Las Palomas Villas.
2) Private taxi/van- Picked up directly at the airport and brought to our front door. Cost is ~ $180-$200. We do need several days advance notice to make a reservation. Please note, prices may change do to multiple factors. We can give you the updated price if needed. We also have private van drivers who will pick you up directly at the airport. This cost is approx $350, however, again, prices may change. Please check with us for an updated price.
3) Shared shuttle van service such as Interbus (www.interbusonline.com), or Caribe shuttle (www.caribeshuttle.com). They offer twice daily service from San Jose to Cahuita for $52-55 per person each way. The ride, again, is about 4-5 hours. They can be booked online directly and need at least a one day advance notice. There is another company, www.costaricashuttle.com, that offers a private van service anytime day or night for about $200 to $240 one way.
Interbus and Caribe shuttle cannot pick you up directly from the airport, due to restrictions from the taxi service. Kind of like Uber and Lyft at other airports. It is a short cab ride to their off site meeting place at a nearby hotel/restaurant. They have had this arrangement for years. They can, however, pick you up directly at any hotel in San Jose.
4) Local bus- There is a direct non-stop bus from the Terminal Atlantico Norte /San Carlos in San Jose to Cahuita. The ride is also 4+ hours and costs about $12 per person each way. They depart the San Jose terminal at 6am, 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 4pm and 6pm. They sometimes are not air conditioned, but are fairly new. You would take a taxi from the airport to the bus terminal for about $30, and another taxi from the Cahuita bus station to us for about $4. We are 1 kilometer north of the bus station at Playa Negra.
5) Regional airline flight- Sansa Air (www.flysansa.com) is a regional airline that flies from the San Jose airport to the Limon airport which is only 30 minutes away from us. The flight is only about 35 minutes and you’re here. A taxi can pick you up at the Limon airport and bring you to us. Taxi cost is ~$50. Toll free number for Sansa Airlines: 1-877-767-2672
We do not allow pets at Las Palomas.
We welcome children ages 7 and older.
The child age limit may be lifted when the whole property is reserves by one party.

We can sometimes be flexible on arrival and departure dates and times, depending on availability. If you are unable to select the dates you would like in the calendar, please contact us.
Please keep in mind we are a 5 hour drive time from San Jose, depending on traffic. If you are arriving to San Jose in the afternoon and plan on renting a car and driving to our area, we strongly advise you to spend the night in a hotel in the San Jose area and make the trip to us the next morning.
Driving can be a little challenging at night, especially if this is your first trip to Costa Rica and are unfamiliar with the roads.
Plus, you don’t want to miss the beautiful scenery as you make your way to us!
